Born in the Hebei province of China and raised in the American Midwest, Diana Xin's work appears in numerous journals. She has been a finalist for The Missouri Review Editor’s Prize and the Narrative Magazine 30 Below contest, as well as a winner of the Third Coast Magazine prize in fiction. She studied creative writing at the University of Montana and is a recipient of residencies from Hedgebrook, Mineral Arts & Residencies, the M Literary Residency in Beijing, and the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. Book of Exemplary Women (YesYes Books, 2025) is her debut collection of short stories. She lives in Seattle, Washington, where she serves as a contributing editor to Moss, a journal of the Pacific Northwest. She has also taught workshops at Hugo House and the Loft Literary Center, after participating in mentorship programs at both organizations, and has coached both youth and adults in creative writing.
